Text Box: Tuesday, February 2

Well, after the “dusting” this past weekend, and more days of snow in the forecast than not...I have a horrible feeling that Punxsatawney Phil might be right. Although I’m really hoping we aren’t putting up with all this crazy snow into the middle of March.

Text Box: FOX PROBLEM
NOTICE FROM FELLOW RESIDENT!!!
I live in the 4600 block of Greencove Circle at Seahorse Court and the rear of my house has a wooded area. Last this week I saw a fox run along my property line then into the woods. The next day I saw two foxes in the clearing in the woods. I contacted Baltimore County Animal Control and they only handle domestic animals and carcasses. I also contacted DNR (Department of Natural Resources) and they stated they do not capture or do anything with wild animals unless they are causing a problem.
They stated that a fox is a curious animal and migrates to urban areas in search of food and a place to create a den. They are afraid of loud noises and DNR suggested to yell, or throw objects in their direction to discourage them returning to the area.
Small animals, such as small dogs or cats are considered prey. DNR stated, to make sure trash cans have secure lids and not to place trash bags by themselves on the ground as this is a source of food for the fox and if they have a sustained food source will remain in the area. In addition, any out buildings, such as sheds should have the bottom portion sealed as to prevent a place for a den.
They will also attempt to make a den in any discarded material that is in the yards, such as boxes, lumber or open trash cans. This community has a large population of small children who may see the fox as a "friendly " animal or dog, which they are not and can be dangerous.

Thank You,
A concerned resident
